2. Visiting this website
When you visit this website, the server automatically records technical data that your browser sends: IP address, date and time of access, the page or file requested, referrer, browser type and operating system. We use this data only to deliver the website, keep it secure and fix errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log data is deleted after 7 days.
The website and the download server are hosted by OVH GmbH, Oskar-Jäger-Str. 173, 50825 Cologne, Germany, on a server located in Germany. OVH processes this data on our behalf as a data processor.
A copy of this website is also published on the Swarm network at bzz://freedombrowser.eth. When you open it there, it is loaded from Swarm peers and our server is not involved.
3. Downloads and updates
When you download Freedom, and when an installed copy of Freedom checks for updates, our download server receives your IP address. We use it to deliver the files and to produce aggregate statistics, such as the number of downloads and the countries they come from. We do not create profiles of individual users. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in delivering and improving the software (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). IP addresses in the server logs are deleted after 7 days. For the statistics, IP addresses are only used in shortened or hashed form, and we keep only aggregate figures, not individual addresses.
4. No cookies, no tracking
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking tools, and loads no content from third parties.
5. External links
This website links to external sites such as GitHub and Bluesky. Their own privacy policies apply once you follow such a link.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability (Art. 15–21 GDPR). This policy covers the website. The Freedom browser itself runs its nodes and wallet locally on your device; its data handling is described in its documentation on GitHub.
